About The Bass Foundations – 4 Fret Bracket Approach Workshop
Beginner to Intermediate
As a private instructor I’ve learned that there are various approaches and adjustments I’ve made in helping my students understand specific musical information and physical playing techniques. The“4-Fret Bracket” approach was the solution that seemed to help my students understand music in general; and watching their lights come on was my gratification!
The “4-Fret Bracket” is based on focusing and learning every playing concept in one specific 4-fret region of the fretboard at a time. There are three 4-Fret Bracket regions to cover in all and is based around the 4 playing fingers on the fingerboard, (usually the left-hand).This workshop does not focus so much on plucking or picking hand technique, (usually the right-hand).
Overall I will cover the basic foundations for creating and performing bass lines within each bracket.
We’ll advance by turning single Root notes into Chord Tones and Scale Tones and then learn what, how and when to use Passing Tones. I’ll also touch on Syncopated rhythm.
This installment of “Bass Foundations/4-Fret Bracket Approach”
will have you learning and playing over a few of the popular Keys for Rock & Blues. The objective is to take these playing concepts: 1) Root Notes, 2) Chord Tones, 3) Scale Tones and some basic rhythms and ultimately perform over the ENTIRE bass fingerboard!! The provided Play-Along tracks are without the bass guitar so you can play the Tabs I’ve created or create your own bass lines and grooves with the concepts you’ve learned from this workshop.
Looking forward to helping you get on the right track with your playing!
